Pore structure–transport relationships in the Bowland Shale

چکیده
Abstract Shale rocks are highly structurally and chemically heterogeneous, such that the pore structure–transport relationship is complex. Shales typically have porosity over many length-scales from molecular up to macroscopic fractures. This work utilizes gas overcondensation probe sizes micropores very large macropores all in same experiment without potential for damage due high pressures when conducting mercury porosimetry. Indeed, Bowland samples studied here generally inaccessible intrusion. The method can also be augmented using scanning loops assess spatial juxtaposition of different sizes, this has been used determine some shielded by necks less than 4 nm size Shale. In addition, adsorption calorimetry accessibility void space. It found mass transport limited particular ‘hour-glass’-like fill at quite low saturation, thus present a barrier migration. shielding macroporosity narrow was particularly significant Above Marine Band sample, with lower observed Below materials.

Economic Evaluation of Bowland Shale Gas Wells Development in the UK
The UK has had its fair share of the shale gas revolutionary waves blowing across the global oil and gas industry at present. Although, its exploitation is widely agreed to have been delayed, shale gas was looked upon favorably by the UK Parliament when they recognized it as genuine energy source and granted licenses to industry to search and extract the resource. This, although a significant p...

High pressure mercury, nitrogen adsorption, nano-CT, and scanning electron microscope with energy spectrum analysis were conducted on core shale samples for studying the characteristics of Taiyuan formation in the eastern uplift of Liaohe depression. The research results show that the shale gas reservoir pores are mainly open pores such as the wedge-shape pores and parallel-plate pores. By a ge...

Gas storage and flow behavior in the shale gas rocks are complex and hard to identify by conventional core analysis. This study integrates clustering analysis techniques from material science, petrophysics, and petrology to characterize North American shale gas samples from Utica, Haynesville, and Fayetteville shale gas plays. High pressure (up to 60,000 psi) mercury porosimetry analysis (MICP)...
